The Pottery Studio: what do users think?

Thomas Atkins: Lovely place, peaceful and soothing yet fun and quirky vibes!Definitely be back!

Laura Rincon: I had been hearing about The Pottery studio for a while and I couldn't stop myself from booking a Clay & Wine class on a Saturday night while visiting some friends in the Sunshine Coast. It was absolutely a fun time!!! I had never tried handbulding before but Adelle ran us through the main techniques and tips to get our pieces done. She's was very helpful and patience to me and as a result I ended up with beautiful amateur pieces than I'm proud and happy to take home once they're finished 😍😍😍I really fell in love with the class and I can't wait to come back to the studio with more friends for more Clay & Wine!!

Lauren Croxton: , utilised all the tools and were able to keep all of our work. However, the highlight of the course was gaining the skills in a warm, welcoming & friendly environment. Trying something new

Dhruv Arora: Cool fitout, good murals, legend owner

Adelle Rutch: Such a beautiful space to come and practice and learn in. Super welcoming community. I have done both the hand building and wheel throwing and rate both highly.

Alicia Bevc: The pottery studio is such a beautiful, calming location where you can find stillness in your work. I loved their 4 week wheel course, as learning and mastering each step rather than rushing through in each session makes you much more comfortable and capable in your abilities.Jordyn is such a lovely teacher, always so accomodating for her students, and has a great sense of humour, you can tell she’s passionate about what she does.Had only great experiences with the studio owner, and I’ll definitely be visiting again!

Celine Bonnaire: We had such fun at the wheel trowing class at the pottery studio! We learnt a lot and got plenty of time to practice. The instructor was very friendly and attentive.I'll go again!

Kayla Billerwell: The class was a lot of fun, we were given the basics and provided support where needed. Really relaxed vibe, can’t wait to come back for the painting element!

Sarah Louise Browne: 100% Would do it again!

Catherine Cavanagh: Great experience and patiently taught good basic skills. Looking forward to future sessions.

Holly Humphrey: Loved the 4 week course! Our teacher Jai is such a patient soul and we were able to produce some great work that turned out way better than you would think beginners could manage. The venue is lovely and has such a relaxing vibe. Everyone is super friendly but you can also get into your own headspace and relax while you throw your pots. Fabulous and worth every cent!

Ryan Atwill: Throwing the wheel was a fun and somewhat challenging experience.Definitely something fun to try with friends

Oxide Clay Art: what do users think?

Julia Mansfield: Joe is an experienced, knowledgeable master potter whose calm, patient approach expertly steers the novice wheel potter through 5 weeks of inspiration and enjoyment. You walk away with your fired and glazed finished pots hooked on wanting to master this technical craft yearning to sign up for more classes to continue your quest. Joe's courses are probably the most affordable fees you will find on the coast. What more could you want? 😊

renee spry: Fantastic pottery classes at Oxide Clay Art! Joe is an awesome potter and teacher! I really enjoyed classes here, lovely learning environment and great people. I learnt so much in a short amount of time.

Danika Copeland: Absolutely loved attending oxide clay art, Joe is very passionate about pottery and would recommend to anyone who is wanting to get into wheel throwing!

Karmen Harley: Joe is a great teacher and his classes are really good value for money. He’s extremely generous with his time and his knowledge. And he has way more patience than any teacher I’ve ever met 😂His classes are so good, they always book up fast so if you get a chance, book it!

Abbey Pringle: . There is nothing more rewarding than picking up your finished pottery pieces once they are completed :

Riaz Hooshmand: Joe is not only a master of his craft and in possession of a wealth of knowledge and experience, but he is also excellent at passing on knowledge and skills to others. I valued the emphasis on building up correct techniques and skills from day 1, despite us having no prior knowledge of ceramics. I learned a tremendous amount from my first course with Joe and will definitely be doing further courses with him.

Toni Lynch: Joe is very patient and clear in his teaching. His knowledge is extensive and I can ask for guidance in learning new things that interest me and from what other students are doing. It is lovely environment to go at your own pace but have help when you need it.I love seeing the results after firing in his gas fired kiln too!

Vanessa Perske: Great teacher and very patient. A very enjoyable experience.

Caitlin Vassallo: A relaxing and welcoming environment. Joe is a calm and patient teacher. Highly recommend his classes.

Graham Farrell: Very friendly and great pottery teacher.

Catherine: I can't recommend this introductory 3 hr throwing course highly enough. Jo has a lovely studio, in a beautiful location. He is warm and welcoming, is an excellent teacher , who repeats instructions clearly, as often as required. He is encouraging and does the final finishing process so that you will have something beautiful at the end. Thank you Jo.

Liz Mildren: Having so far completed three consecutive courses at Oxide Clay Art, and beginning as a total novice at wheel throwing, Jo Ottaway at Oxide Clay provided a great experience. Not only do you learn wheel throwing skills including turning, but also glazing techniques. Having completed the initial course Jo was happy to keep teaching me more complicated skills and allow me to perfect them at the school. His teaching style is most informative and relaxed and notwithstanding my sometimes awful mistakes, I never felt I was wasting his time. I would commend this course to all interested clay workers.

Sarah K Jones: Jo was brilliant, he was patient and thorough in his teaching style. We finished the course w 10 handmade pieces that we are immensely proud of. Would highly recommend his lessons!

rachel mackie: First time to a pottery class, absolutely loved it and I learnt so much. Joe is an absolute whizz, so helpful and informative and the surroundings are so beautiful, great way to escape reality and get creative.

Mari McGuire: I attended Joe's wheel throwing classes each week for over two and a half years. Not only is his knowledge and skill evident by his own incredibly beautiful ceramic pieces, but he shines most as a teacher and mentor. Joe is able to cater to all skill levels, giving you as much attention and encouragement as you need, and willing to taje you to the next level. He was always willing to talk through the technical aspects that can result from the glaze effects, and"hey Joe..." was always a catch cry in the studio.I introduced my partner to the classes and he has certainly excelled as a wheel potter under Joe's guidance and encouragement.Joe's relocation to the Sunshine Coast with his artist partner Katrina has left a huge gap in pottery classes in Brisbane, if I could commute each week i would definitely still be a regular at Joe's classes. Highly recommend his classes, the studio space looks amazing.

Scott McInerney: Joe runs a great course at his beautiful home / office on Mt Ninderry. He is a true professor of the art of pottery and has superb patience to attend to everybody in a relaxed and individual way. Both my wife and I completed the course, we had different speeds and goals and Joe was able to help both of us maximize our time and skills. We both really enjoyed it and will definitely return and recommend.

alex B: I attended Joe's classes for a year starting as a rank beginner. Joe is a patient and knowledgeable person who knows how to teach adults. His classes are relaxed and students progress at their own pace and according to their developing skill levels. Joe's an "awesome potter" who covers all skill levels and in my case assisted me to go from stunted, wobbly bowls at the start to making a couple of presentable teapots at the end. I developed an enthusiasm for pottery through the classes and as a result have continued with my own wheel and kiln.I'd highly recommend Joe whether you just want a hobby or whether you are looking to be a professional potter.
